Petrified Forest of Aghios Nikolao | Greece

I avoid writing about places frequented by mass tourists and we favour visiting places where they are not usually easily accessible by tourist buses.  We were having lunch at Neapoli and saw a sign that says Petrified Forest and being curious as we usually are, we decided to explore. There were very few signs to direct us to the site and the dirt roads were not easy for our little rented Ford. I cannot describe how beautiful the drive was and as we were about to give up the search, we saw a fallen sign that says Petrified Forest!  The site is right by the sea and with such good weather and tranquil surroundings, our family of 3 decided to chase after each other!  I would really recommend visiting this area before they open up for mass tourism!
